The Story

It began by accident.

A memory triggered by coffee beans on an ordinary afternoon. One smell opened another.

I · The Idea

A kitchen in Seoul. A mountain road in Tennessee. A backyard in Missouri after rain. A boarding-school dining hall where vanilla soft serve sat next to pork belly. Minné started there — with the strange fact that scent can hand a place and time back to you.

Minné makes fragrances from memory. Not the idea of memory — actual ones. Our founder Alex's, to be exact. They were not grand places or grand moments. They were ordinary, specific, and hard to forget.

Minné does not make fragrances that smell like nowhere. Each scent begins with a place, a day, a strange hour of life, then gets pulled apart and rebuilt through notes you can name.

"We think the smell of a damp wooden fence after spring rain is worth keeping exactly as it was."

II · The Maker

No master perfumer.
No inherited house.

Our founder Alex did not come to fragrance through the usual route, and Minné makes no dramatic claim about reinventing scent. For a long time it was one person following memories that would not leave him alone.

The work was small and repetitive. Testing, editing, starting over. Finding the difference between a woody scent and the dry wood of Gatlinburg in late fall. Between vanilla as sweetness and vanilla in a strange dining hall. Between a floral and petals crushed into wet concrete after spring rain.

III · The Life

A life, left in scent.

The fragrances come from a life lived between Seoul, Suwanee, Gatlinburg, Columbia, Wallingford, and New York — where Korean family rituals, southern Americana, suburban childhood, early boarding-school independence, and urban adulthood each left its own scent behind. Alex stays close to all of it. These fragrances are personal before they are anything else.

"The memory is only the starting point. It gave the fragrance its shape."
